In the beginning ...

Aloha!

In October of 2018 our family inherited a property with two homes, which have been turned into duplexes, so four units in total.

We also inherited a beautiful plot of land which the two homes sit on.

They are situated in the mountains on the Windward side of the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i.

The property has been in disarray and in need of dire help.  The homes need to be repaired and renovated, and the overgrown landscape need help as well.

We have a very of birds, feral chickens, cats
(pets, and feral), wild pigs, goats (escapees), and few wild turkeys, which makes for some interesting situations.

You may ask, why spend the time, effort, and money restoring the property?  The answer is because it will be a challenge to restore the homes, and replanting with native endemic plants.

Secondly, with prices of homes in Hawai'i and lack of adequate rental properties, we wanted to see if we can keep it in the family and provide homes for people to live in.

And thirdly, and most importantly, to leave a legacy with planting of native endemic plants.

We started the preliminary work of clearing part of one home and part of the landscape.  There is a lot more to do.  So, join us in our journey of Making of a Hawaiian home and gardens.

A hui hou! (Until next time)
